Hirata Cafeteria

here are a lot of delicious items on the menu of the “Hirata Cafeteria” of Seishin. This cafeteria is run by Mr. and Mrs. Hirata. The cafeteria is very popular, and there is a long line there during lunch break. Popular items on the menu are ramen, udon, and curry rice. There are also main dishes on the cafeteria menu, for example, fried chicken, pork cutlet so on. Some people add wakame rice or other side dishes and make it like a set meal. Fried tofu is an especially popular side dish. The tofu is crisp and seasoning is also delicious.

Paramedic training

On January 25th, we  11 th graders had a lesson about paramedic training. It was my first time to learn about it, and I had been very interested in it for a long time. In fact, the lesson gave me an opportunity to have very valuable experiences. We did Cardiopulmonary resuscitation and used automated external defibrillator with mannequins. The cardiopulmonary resuscitation required more physical strength than I had expected. I learned that if we saw someone who needs help, we need to take actions and these actions may determine whether one lives or one dies.

Hyakunin-Isshu Game

We 8th graders had “Hyakunin-Isshu Game” on January 11th.
“Hyakunin-Isshu” is a traditional Japanese card game.
It has a set of cards of the best 100 old poems.
Each poem consists of two parts.
We call the first half “Kami-no-ku” and the second half “Shimo -no-ku”.
First, all of the cards are spread out on the floor, usually between two players sitting face to face.
Each card has only the “Shimo-no-ku” on it.
Then, the teacher reads the “Kami-no-ku” at random, and the players try to find and get the card with “Shimo-no-ku” on it.
They must get it more quickly than their opponent so they usually slap it away with their hand.
The card may fly!
The player who gets the most cards wins.
Usually “Hyakunin-Isshu” is played by 2 players.
But this time we enjoyed it among 8 players.
My favorite poem is “Hana-sasou Arashi-no-niwa-no Yuki-nara-de” (Kaminoku).
“Furiyuku-mono-ha Wagami-narikeri” (Shimonoku).
It means “Storm blows cherry blossoms like snow.
Actually, it is not the blossoms that a falling, but it is me who is getting older and older.
Playing the game was pretty fun,we could learn a lot from beautiful poems.

We are art club. In addition to individual productions such as oil paintings, we all produce large monuments, flags, entrance gate for the school festival and the athletic festival with one together. There is an image that the art club’s activities are easier than the other clubs, but we are fulfilling before the events. The most wonderful point in our activities, that I think is teamwork, we are very close. Also, we go a fun sketch trip once a year. Every year it deepens ties and our skill improved.
