The Second Term Began

During the summer vacation, we enjoyed many things, for example, club activities, volunteer works, going on a trip, going swimming in a pool or the sea, and so on.

Not only we did enjoy ourselves but also we studied hard, so the summer vacation was so enjoyable and meaningful for us that we felt sad that it was over.

However, the second term began on August 28th.
We gathered for the opening ceremony, and cleaned all over the school.

We are happy to see friends and teachers again.
We enjoy talking with them so much.

We are looking forward to the events in the second term.
For example, the sports festival, introduction of our school to elementary school students, Christmas.
The 10th grade students will travel Okinawa.
We wish to make many happy memories.

There were many kind of animals like wild boars, raccoon dogs or weasels.
But they don’t appear recently.
We are a little miss them.

And we also cannot go up the slope called “Daikonzaka” and use the playground or tennis courts.

Welcome to Hiroshima!

The 23rd World Scout Jamboree was held in Japan from 28 July to 8 August.
The boys and girls who are 14~17 years old came to Japan from 162 countries.
They camped together in Yamaguchi and studied afraid of war and importance of peace in Hiroshima.

Our school students volunteered to teach how to make Orizuru, guide persons around the museum or introduce calligraphy.

YUKATA

It’s hot these days.
Speaking of summer, there is summer traditional costume in Japan.
It’s YUKATA.
20150817-02

It looks like Kimono.
When you wear Yukata, you can feel cool because it’s made of thin cloth which is well ventilated.
Nowadays in Japan, we wear it at summer festivals or displays of fireworks.

Look at these statues.

They are wearing YUKATA.
These were made by the Home Economic Club students.
They took their measurements so they fit them.
It’ so cute!!!

We are happy to see the costumes made by the students in each season. We are really looking forward to the next costumes!!

Jichin-sai

A “Jichin-sai” (Japanese ground-breaking purification ceremony) was held in the playground of our school.
This ceremony is one of Japan’s traditional customs, held before we build a new building to calm the god of land.
This ceremony is usually administered by a Shinto priest, but this time, it was administered by a Father in the Catholic Church.

10
We prayed that there will be no accidents during the construction, and sang songs for the ceremony.

Finally, the Catholic Father scattered water and salt over the playground to purify the land.

We are all looking forward to our new school building.

The Bridge of Peace

We had our final examinations last Friday.
We feel relieved because the examinations are finished.
It is almost the summer vacation, so we want to have many experiences in addition to studying.
Members of the Stringed Ensemble Club in our school will take part in a concert to pray for peace.
They will play with Umi Gaarret who plays an active part in music in America, the students from other schools and professional musicians of Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra.
Umi and the students will act as a bridge between Japan and America and they will play music with the intention of expressing our ideas of peace.
Members of the Stringed Ensemble Club have been instructed by a professional musician and have been practicing since May.
They will play “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”.
The concert will be held in Phoenix Hall in Hiroshima City from 18:30 on July 15th.
We support them.
We want to think about making peace.
